im a maker. a maker artist. i particularly make glass beads. i love the material, the playful forming and experimentation. its a very meditative activity, full attention is required with the flame and dripping glass. in 2005 i made my very first glassbead and i was hooked.
i permit myself much freedom with the glass, it's at the torch that i learnt that what ever happened, was ok and acceptable. even if i judged it to be an ugly bead or a broken bead. eventually the 'ugly' beads became my personal favourites and i rarely gave them for sale.
now i can say the beads are organic and form themselves with a touch of my preferences thrown in.
combining these glass sculptures with silver, hammered and heated, creates contrast, hangability, and beautiful snippets of contemporary jewellery.
